About us

  • Incite Health began with a desire to provide more people with accessible at-home DNA collection kits and innovative medical insight and support, after treating a patient with long term acute depression made a great recovery. Here’s his story as told by our doctors.

    Barry needed help

Forty-year-old Barry’s depression had cost him his job and marriage, and he had tried to end his life. He’d seen his GP, counsellor and specialists, but medication and treatment hadn’t helped.

He was taking an antidepressant at its maximum dose, but wasn’t noticing much improvement.

    Metabolism and meds

After years of acute depression, Barry met Dr Ajeet Singh, now Incite Health’s Chief Psychiatrist. Considering Barry’s long history with failed doses, Dr Singh took an innovative approach. Because high-dose antidepressants can help those with particularly high metabolism, Dr Singh exceeded the maximum dose for Barry (which his medical license allows). In a few months, Barry’s dark thoughts faded and his confidence returned.

    Critical care, sooner

Thinking about Barry led Dr Singh to wonder: How might this man’s life have played out if he’d been able to access customised and specialised healthcare sooner? He wanted to help as many people as possible, but knew patients often didn’t have enough access to psychiatrists or money. So, he started a genetics trial to test his theory: that genetic insights could help people take the right medication dose sooner.

    A new solution for all

After ten years of dedication and due diligence—data collection and analysis, funding and team logistics, ethics approvals, and finding patients—Dr Singh and team found a way to take much of the guesswork out of prescriptions and doses, especially for depression and anxiety. That solution is now available for you and everyone to benefit from through Incite Health.
